Mr. Brady has deep appellate experience in both state and federal courts, regularly advocating on significant appellate matters for businesses, nonprofits and individuals, often in their role as landowners, taxpayers, permittees, or government contractors. A former Assistant Solicitor General of Virginia and law clerk to the Supreme Court of Virginia, he has represented parties and amici in more than forty-five appeals, including before the Court of Appeals of Virginia, Supreme Court of Virginia, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Mr. Brady’s practice specializes in disputes with federal, state, and local government, drawing on his substantial experience, both in public service and private practice, with administrative, constitutional, environmental, freedom of information, land use, and state and local tax controversies. He regularly represents clients – ranging from Fortune 50 companies to small, closely-held businesses, nonprofit organizations and individuals – who face serious legal, regulatory and business risks from all manner of government action.

Mr. Brady is actively involved in the Virginia legal community, serving as Vice President of the Federalist Society for Law & Public Policy Studies for the Richmond Lawyers Chapter, and is also a member of the Appellate Practice Section of the Virginia Bar Association and of the John Marshall Inn of Court. He is regularly listed among Virginia Business Magazine’s Appellate Law “Legal Elite” and has been recognized as a Virginia Lawyers Weekly “Go To” Appellate Lawyer. He has also been recognized by Best Lawyers in America in the areas of Appellate Practice, Commercial Litigation, Administrative/Regulatory and Environmental Law.
