Webinar: Political Law 101 Bootcamp, Part 1: Lobbying Disclosure Act Compliance

Date: January 8, 2026
For many corporations, associations, and nonprofit organizations, there is a lot at stake in Congress and with the Trump Administration. More organizations are thinking about engaging in federal lobbying to promote and protect their interests, and even to ensure their survival. At a certain point, engagement with legislators and executive officials will trigger registration under the Lobbying Disclosure Act (LDA).

In this webinar, Partners Jim Kahl and Heidi Abegg discuss some of the key issues for complying with the LDA.

Key Topics Covered Include:
•    Who has to register under the LDA and when?
•    How does lobbying firm registration and reporting differ from organizational registration and reporting?
•    What issues and expenses have to be disclosed in quarterly activity reports?
•    How does an organization compute and report its lobbying expenses?
•    What “method” should an organization select to measure its lobbying expenses?
•    Which “affiliated entities” and “foreign entities” have to be disclosed on registrations and reports?
•    What has to be disclosed in the lobbying contribution reports?
•    What are the risks of non-compliance with the LDA?
